TUTORIAL
In the tutorial video, Mr. Fauzi demonstrated the steps and methods of making collage, as well as the tools and materials needed.
LECTURE
Week 2:INTRODUCTION TO COMPOSITION
In this lecture, Mr. Fauzi introduced us about some skills and elements of
composition.
Basic Elements of Composition
- Focal point: we must settle the most important thing in design on the focal point.
- Hierarchy: It helps to make the key points stand out clearly. Effectively balance the proportions of various elements in the design.
- Balance the Elements: Each elements have a proportional weight.
- White Space: It helps design to breathe.
Rules of Thirds
will divide the picture into thirds, with four intersection points. It
will be more natural to focus on these four points. It makes effective
use of negative space.
Golden Ratio
is to set your dimensions to 1:1.618.
INSTRUCTION
1. Choose and identify your collage's design elements to be cut out and
compose it into your own concept & story.
2. Pre compositing your collage's design elements into a composition.

Some Efforts for doing the collage
This is a previous version of collage, which I think is not
well done. It does not look like collage, but like a
poster.
Later,I searched the Internet for the definition of
collage. The definition of collage is a special technique of
sticking objects on the picture with adhesive. Collage is
divided into theme collage, mood board, historical research,
narrative collage, scene collage, analytical research, etc.
After understanding , I changed my collage .
Inspiration
I want to convey some emotions through my collage, and my inspiration
comes from these pictures.
Material
Material 1
Material 2
Material 3
Material 4
Material 5
I selected these materials from magazines and chose "Material 5" as
the subject of my collage.
Process
I used a knife to cut off the white part of the face's eyes and
replaced it with grass. I used flowers cut from green onion magazines
to make the subject's lips. I used bouquets of different sizes,
colors, thicknesses, and lengths to form a mask. I put it on the
subject's face. I used the remaining materials to decorate the collage
to make the picture look more interesting. Later I found that the mask
can also be changed into the shape of a crown. I used this idea to
make my composition2
Pre-Composition 1
Pre-Composition 2
The mask is transformed into a crown for the protagonist to wear. The main idea is that if you want to wear the crown, you must bear its weight. In order to achieve higher achievements, you must endure and bear more pressure and suffering than others. The idea of the eyes is the same as composition 1. Flowers are used to make tears to imply the suffering experienced by the protagonist. The flowers next to the face represent hard armor.
